Attention FPV racers! We at SMC have listened to you. We went to the drawing board and came away with a new formula to deliver the performance you demand from your FPV race packs.
We’ve been busy with our surface and flight packs, where we’re already well known as innovators, introducing new formulations for those demanding conditions. But we have also been working within the FPV racing community to learn where performance is most critical. The feedback from test packs as we worked through development reached a crescendo on this recipe, and we’re now ready to release it.
These packs have the highest capacity while lowering weight. Most importantly, they pump out the highest power per gram (Watts/gram). Using the most advanced materials, and building the packs to racing minimalist design, we can offer racers the new pinnacle of battery performance.
Don’t just believe the words, look at the graphs where you can see the SMC pack has the lowest voltage drop under load. Forget C ratings, we know they are only as good as the ink they are printed with on pack stickers. We developed a measure called Burst Power where the true performance of the pack can be reliable and repeatably tested with parameters that matter.
Power, light weight and incredible capacity. It’s time to get the new SMC packs before you get beaten by them!
Burst Power: Instead of using C rates which are pretty much made up and used as marketing we are using what we call Burst Power where we measure the cells voltage for 3 seconds under a constant resistance load of 0.018 Ohms. This shows the cells ability to retain voltage under high amp loads hence why we call this Burst Power. Below is a graph of various FPV racing cells tested under this method. This is done on one cell within the pack but the weight listed is the weight of a 6 cell pack.
On our 1400 pack we rate it as 331 this is the voltage at 3 seconds under the Burst Power test. This means at 3 seconds the voltage of the cell under a constant resitance discharge of 0.018 Ohms was at 3.31V.
Burst Power number of each cell in the graph:
SMC 1600-343-240gr: 343
SMC 1400-331-208gr: 331
Bonka 1380-180C-237gr: 323
GNB 1400-160C-233gr: 320
Dogcom 1380-160C-229gr: 319
CNHL 1550-150C-black-256gr: 314
Tattu 1550-V5-150C-254gr: 313
Tattu 1400-V5-150C-222gr: 292
Below is a graph of a constant power discharge of 270 watts to simulate the flight time of the cells under a similar load encountered during a race. This allows you to see how much more flight time in seconds you get with the different mAh/weight packs.
